Because of this tilt, there is an unequal distribution of solar energy on the surface of the Earth. This causes differences in climate, environment, and ecology in the latitudinal regions. There are 3 latitudinal zones: Polar, Temperate, and Tropic.
Polar regions receive the most little amount of solar thermal energy, so therefore the region is dry, cold, and has abundant snow/hail. Tropic regions receive the most solar light and thermal energy, so the region is wet, hot and has abundant rainfall (due to the more fast-paced cycle of the water cycle). |
